Welcome to the past

Join the Alpha – Expect Bugs, Embrace the Past!

We're thrilled to announce the public alpha release of our new platform – a initiative built to put you back in control of our digital lives.

This is an alpha release, which means you should expect many rough edges, bugs, and features that are still evolving. This phase is crucial for us to gather your feedback, understand actual needs, and refine the platform as we grow.

Please note: This alpha is currently available for Linux and MacOS only and require basic technical abilities.

Ready to explore a new frontier for your digital media?

Getting Started

What We're Building

We're building a personal media platform to bring content creators and users together in a cooperative ecosystem that allows the users to directly support their favorite content creators at no extra cost. While making it easy for content creators to actually make a living on the platform doing what they love.

How it works

  • Retrovibed provides the software / infrastructure for users to store whatever digital media they want to keep, think icloud, google drive, etc. The basic plan is $4/month for 2 TB of data.
  • Content creators (who also are users) upload their content into the platform and mark it for publishing.
  • Users subscribe to the content creators and archive their favorite content creators media into their cloud storage.

Once the three sets above happen the platform does the following:

  • for each user that archives content they total amount of storage used for that particular piece of media is decreased for every user. for the second user lets use reducing the storage used to 66% of the media's original size for each user. Basically the more users archiving the media the less space the media takes up in each users storage limits.
  • Since the reduction isnt a full split between the users, the platform makes a profit each time media is archived since the storage backend isnt duplicated.
  • The profit the platform makes is then revenue shared with the content creator. we're still working on the details exactly what this split will be. but we're aiming for a parabolic curve that favors the content creator on both ends with the platform making the bulk of its cut after the content is generating revenue for the creator.

Future work

In addition to the profit sharing based on the storage, we're also planning to revenue share on the higher more feature rich tiers of the platform based on what content a user consumed each month. basically after the basic plans $4/month the platform will become self sufficient just off the storage revenue, so the remainder of the higher tier subscriptions are planned to be variable pays to content creators directly based on what a user consumed that month.
